On March 13, 2025, Templer Park International School Rawang (TPIS) transformed its classrooms into a hub of mathematical excitement as students from Grade 1 to 11 came together to celebrate International Mathematics Day (π Day)! Organized by the Mathematics Department, led by Ms. Rivithra, the event aimed to make math fun and engaging through interactive games, friendly competitions, and exciting challenges that tested students’ problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.

A Grand Opening to Spark Curiosity

The event kicked off at 1:00 PM in the school auditorium, where the Head of the Mathematics Department, Ms. Rivithra, welcomed students with an inspiring speech. To set the mood for the day, a quick math riddle had students eagerly shouting out answers, building excitement for the challenges ahead.

Math Games Across Grade Levels

After the opening ceremony, students moved to their respective classrooms, where they participated in grade-appropriate activities designed to make learning math an enjoyable experience.

Grade 1 – 3: Number Relay
The youngest participants took on the Number Relay, a fast-paced game aimed at strengthening number recognition and basic arithmetic. With enthusiasm and teamwork, students raced to find the correct number cards, and in the end, Nanaha, Prasittipon, and Zafeerah emerged as the top three winners!

Grade 4 – 6: Number/Multiplication Bingo
Students in Grades 4 to 6 put their multiplication skills to the test in an intense round of Number and Multiplication Bingo. With quick thinking and a bit of luck, Thanesh, Hock Soon, and Yun Qi secured the top spots in this exciting game.

Grade 7 – 11: Sudoku Competition
Older students took on the ultimate challenge in a Sudoku Competition, where logical reasoning and speed were key to victory. Koji dominated the challenge for Grades 7-8, followed by Hilzarie in second place. Meanwhile, in the Grades 9-11 category, Daphne and Abigail showcased their impressive problem-solving abilities, claiming the top prizes.

Blooket Live Quiz: A Battle of Wits!

The event concluded with a Live Blooket Quiz, where students competed in real time to answer math-related questions. The energy in the room was electric as students raced to the top of the leaderboard. Here are the winners from each category:

  • Grade 1-4: 1st – Nanaha, 2nd – Hannah, 3rd – Sumi
  • Grade 5-6: 1st – Brayden, 2nd – Honey, 3rd – Hock Soon
  • Grade 7-8: 1st – Hilzarie, 2nd – Kingsley, 3rd – Peiyuu
  • Grade 9-10: 1st – Daphne, 2nd – Abigail

A Celebration of Learning and Fun

As the event came to a close, students left with certificates, prizes, and most importantly, a greater appreciation for mathematics. The day was a true celebration of learning, problem-solving, and teamwork—proving that math is more than just numbers; it’s a fun and essential part of everyday life!
