Osmosis in Action

Who knew carrots could teach us so much about Biology? 🌱

Our Grade 10 scientists got hands-on with one of Biology’s coolest concepts — osmosis! And guess what? All they needed was a few carrots, different solutions, and a curious mind. 🧪✨

🥕 The Great Carrot Experiment

Our young scientists placed carrot pieces into solutions of different concentrations and made predictions about what would happen next. Would the carrots become firmer, softer, heavier, or lighter? 🤔

📊 From Predictions to Discoveries

The investigation didn’t stop at observation! Students measured changes in mass, examined the carrots’ texture, collected data, and analysed their findings to uncover the science behind the results.

💧 So, What’s the Science?

Osmosis is the movement of water across a partially permeable membrane from a region of higher water potential to a region of lower water potential. Depending on the surrounding solution, water can move into or out of carrot cells, changing their mass and firmness!

🌟 Biology Beyond the Textbook

This experiment reminded us that science isn’t just about memorising definitions — it’s about asking questions, testing ideas, analysing evidence, and discovering how the world works.

Who knew a humble carrot could be such a brilliant Biology teacher? 🥕🎓

At TPIS, learning comes alive through exploration, experimentation, and discovery! 💚
