What happens when one of Malaysia’s top universities drops by Templer Park International School Rawang (TPIS)? A whole lot of excitement, inspiration, and future dreaming!
On a lively school day, our Grade 9 and IGCSE students were treated to a special session led by the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics from Universiti Malaya (UM) — and it was nothing short of amazing.
🧭 Discovering New Pathways
The session, titled “UM Presentation on Degree Programmes: Faculty of Languages and Linguistics,” was a fantastic opportunity for students to dive into the world of linguistics, communication, and language studies. They learned about the many exciting degree options UM offers, from linguistics and TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) to translation and intercultural communication.
💡 Eye-Opening Insights
The UM team shared not only programme details but also career possibilities linked to language studies — including media, education, international relations, and even AI and tech! Students were surprised to see just how many doors language can open.
Interactive Q&A segments kept the session buzzing, with students eagerly asking questions about university life, course structures, and what it takes to succeed in language-based fields.
🌟 Building Confidence & Curiosity
For many students, this was their first real taste of university planning — and it sparked a lot of curiosity (and a few “Aha!” moments). Whether they were fluent speakers or just discovering a love for language, the session gave them valuable food for thought as they consider their next steps.
💬 A Word of Thanks
A huge thank you to Universiti Malaya’s Faculty of Languages and Linguistics for spending time with our students and broadening their horizons. It was a powerful reminder that language isn’t just something we learn — it’s something that can shape our futures.
🎉 At TPIS, we’re always striving to expose our learners to real-world opportunities and meaningful connections — and this session was a perfect example of that in action!
