Our recent field trip to LadyBird Organic Farm at Broga Hill on July 11, 2024 was an exhilarating blend of learning and adventure, set amidst breathtaking scenery. The farm, nestled in the picturesque Semenyih landscape, offered a unique, hands-on dive into the world of sustainable agriculture.
Stepping onto the LadyBird Organic Farm was like entering a world of discovery. We kicked off our journey by getting our hands dirty with seeding. Planting tiny seeds in trays, we made sure they had the perfect conditions to sprout and grow. Next, we prepped the soil by clearing and enriching it with organic compost, creating a nutrient-packed bed for our plants. Transplanting the sprouts was both delicate and rewarding, as we carefully moved them to their new home, giving each one enough space to thrive. The highlight of the day was harvesting the ripe vegetables, where we marveled at the journey from seed to plate. This immersive experience not only taught us the basics of organic farming but also deepened our appreciation for the effort that goes into every bite of fresh produce.
The day was filled with excitement and variety—mini-golf, hands-on experiments, seed planting, harvesting, farm exploration, and even rabbit petting. Each activity was crafted to bridge classroom knowledge with real-world fun, making learning both engaging and enjoyable.
Under the guidance of enthusiastic teachers and knowledgeable farm staff, the students fully immersed themselves in every aspect of vegetable cultivation. From planting seeds to harvesting crops and interacting with friendly farm animals, the students gained a newfound appreciation for nature and agriculture.
This trip not only enriched our science lessons but also sparked a sense of environmental responsibility. As students look back on their time at LadyBird Organic Farm, they’re excited to bring these lessons into their daily lives, ready to champion sustainable living and become passionate stewards of the environment.
