Chemistry in Action: Bringing Science to Life at TPIS!

The science laboratory was buzzing with excitement as our Grade 10 IGCSE students at Templer Park International School Tawang (TPIS) stepped into the role of young scientists during an engaging practical lesson on redox reactions.

Armed with lab coats, safety goggles, and curious minds, students explored the fascinating world of chemical reactions through hands-on experiments. Rather than simply reading about oxidation and reduction in textbooks, they had the opportunity to witness these processes in action, making learning both meaningful and memorable.

Throughout the session, students carefully conducted experiments, observed chemical changes, and recorded their findings with precision. One of the highlights of the lesson was investigating how substances react and transform, helping students develop a deeper understanding of the redox processes that play an important role in many everyday applications.

Students also used universal indicators to identify acidic, alkaline, and neutral substances, observing vibrant colour changes that revealed the pH levels of different solutions. These practical activities allowed them to connect theoretical concepts with real-world scientific investigations.

Beyond mastering Chemistry concepts, the lesson reinforced the importance of laboratory safety, responsible handling of chemicals, and accurate scientific observation. Students demonstrated excellent teamwork, critical thinking, and inquiry skills as they analysed results and discussed their findings.

At TPIS, practical learning experiences like these are an essential part of the IGCSE journey, encouraging students to become confident, independent learners who are ready to explore the world through science.

It was truly a productive and exciting session that brought Chemistry to life—one experiment at a time!
