Our Chinese New Year Celebration was conducted last week at Templer Park International School Rawang was a dazzling showcase of talent, creativity, and cultural appreciation. The event featured a wide array of exciting activities that brought together students from different grade levels to celebrate the festive season in the most artistic ways. Here’s a glimpse at the wonderful performances and creative activities that took place:
1. Performance: Chinese New Year Songs
The celebration kicked off with a magical performance by Daphne, who brought the spirit of the Chinese New Year alive through beautiful, traditional songs. Her melodious voice and captivating stage presence had everyone tapping their feet and humming along. It was the perfect way to set the festive mood, as we welcomed the Year of the Snake with music that resonated with joy and harmony.
2. Paper Cutting
Next, students showed off their delicate skills in Chinese Paper Cutting. This age-old art form, known for its intricate designs, celebrates the beauty of Chinese culture. Students worked with scissors and colored paper to create stunning, symbolic pieces, from dragons to floral motifs, all representing good luck and prosperity. Each artwork was a unique reflection of the student’s creativity and a beautiful tribute to this traditional craft.
3. Diamond Painting
Everyone had a sparkling time with Diamond Painting. This activity combined creativity with a little bit of sparkle! Armed with tiny “diamonds,” students carefully placed each piece onto their canvases, creating vibrant and eye-catching designs. Whether it was a dragon, lanterns, or fireworks, the artwork came to life with brilliant colors, and the students were excited to see their masterpieces shimmer as they worked.
4. Watercolor Painting
Our young artists embraced the fluid beauty of Watercolor Painting. They dipped their brushes into vibrant shades of red, gold, and green, creating festive images of lanterns, dragons, and blossoming flowers. Their faces lit up with joy as they explored the delicate art of watercolor, and their paintings captured the magic of Chinese New Year in soft, ethereal tones.
5. Calligraphy
Last but certainly not least, students flexed their artistic muscles with Chinese Calligraphy. With brushes in hand, they practiced the elegant strokes that form the beautiful characters of the Chinese language. Students wrote auspicious phrases like “福” (Fu – Luck) and “春” (Chun – Spring), each stroke representing a deep connection to Chinese heritage and the values of the new year. The room was filled with the sound of brushes gliding over paper as students honed their skills, transforming simple words into works of art.
What a day! The Chinese New Year Celebration at TPIS was a wonderful mix of tradition, fun, and creativity, with each student adding their personal touch to the festivities. Through music, painting, calligraphy, and paper crafts, we were able to not only celebrate the New Year but also honor the rich cultural traditions that make this season so special.
As the Year of the Snake unfolds, we’re excited to see how our studentsstud continue to grow, learn, and share their creativity with the world. Wishing everyone good fortune, prosperity, and endless joy in the year ahead!
