At Templer Park International School Rawang (TPIS), our Grade 2 students recently stepped into the world of baking—where math truly comes to life! 🍪✨

Using a simple cookie recipe designed for 2 cookies, students were challenged to think critically: What if we only want to make 1 cookie? Through this, they learned to divide the ingredients by two. For example, if the recipe required 20g of chocolate chips for 2 cookies, they discovered that each cookie would need 10g. This hands-on activity helped them understand mass in grams in a meaningful and practical way.

With their calculated measurements, students worked together to prepare their very own cookie batter, carefully following the adjusted recipe. Not only did they practice their math skills, but they also learned the importance of teamwork—sharing tasks, supporting one another, and celebrating small successes along the way.

To make the experience even sweeter, each student brought home 50g of their very own cookie batter! 🍪

At TPIS, we believe that learning goes beyond the classroom. Through engaging, real-world activities like this, our students discover that math is not just numbers on paper—it’s all around us, and yes… math is fun! 💡✨
