At Templer Park International School Rawang (TPIS), learning science is never just about textbooks—it’s about discovery, creativity, and a whole lot of fun! Our Grade 5 students recently dived into the fascinating world of magnetic materials, and the classroom quickly transformed into a hub of excitement and innovation.
From the moment the lesson began, students were fully engaged in hands-on activities designed to bring magnetic concepts to life. One of the highlights was the Magnet Car Racing, where students cleverly used magnetic force to move their cars—without even touching them! Cheers and laughter filled the room as they experimented with pushing and pulling forces to win the race.
The creativity didn’t stop there. In the Magnetic Bridge Challenge, students worked in teams to design and test bridges using magnets, putting their problem-solving skills to the test. Meanwhile, the Scrapyard Sorting activity had them thinking like real engineers, identifying which materials were magnetic and which were not.

Perhaps the most imaginative task of all was the Portable Toilet Design—a real-world application that had students thinking outside the box (and definitely brought a few giggles too!). It was inspiring to see how they applied their understanding of magnets in such practical and inventive ways.
Throughout the lesson, the classroom was buzzing with curiosity, teamwork, and those priceless “aha!” moments. At TPIS, we believe that meaningful learning happens when students are encouraged to explore, question, and create—and this lesson was a perfect example of that in action.
We are incredibly proud of our young scientists and their growing confidence in applying scientific concepts to the world around them. The future is bright—and definitely magnetic! 💡✨
