Grade 11 students at Templer Park International School Rawang (TPIS) carried out a series of IGCSE-style presentations to prepare for their upcoming mock examinations. Each student researched a key topic from the IGCSE syllabus and presented it confidently in front of the class.

IGCSE Topic Focus: Human influences on the environment / Ecology & Food Production

The aim of the session was to strengthen students’ understanding, improve their communication skills, and help them revise content through peer teaching.

TPIS students prepared and presented on a variety of environmental and food production topics, including:

🌱 Intensive Livestock Production

  • High-density animal farming
  • Use of concentrated feed
  • Advantages & ethical concerns
  • Environmental impacts

🌾 Monoculture Farming

  • Growing a single crop species repeatedly
  • Benefits vs. risks (pests, disease spread, reduced biodiversity)
  • Effects on soil health and ecosystems

🌍 Greenhouse Gas Pollution

  • Carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxides
  • Sources of emissions
  • Impact on global warming and climate
  • Possible mitigation strategies

Students demonstrated great confidence, creativity, and a strong understanding of their topics. This session not only supported their IGCSE exam preparation but also strengthened essential communication and critical-thinking skills across the TPIS classroom.
