Yesterday, our campus at Templer Park International School Rawang (TPIS) was filled with excitement as students took part in our Mission π: The Exploration Challenge in celebration of Pi (π) Day. Observed globally on March 14, Pi Day honours the mathematical constant π (pi), which represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. The celebration began in 1988 when physicist Larry Shaw introduced the idea at the San Francisco Exploratorium.
At TPIS, we embraced the spirit of curiosity and discovery through a series of engaging STEAM-based activities designed to make mathematics fun, interactive, and meaningful for our students.
One of the highlights was the Addition by Colour – Finish the Picture activity, where students solved addition problems to determine the correct colours for different sections of an image. As the numbers came together, so did the artwork, revealing colourful pictures while strengthening students’ mathematical thinking.
Students also participated in Mission π challenges, exploring puzzles and problem-solving tasks inspired by the fascinating world of circles and numbers. These activities encouraged collaboration, logical reasoning, and creativity — key elements of STEAM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).

Throughout the day, classrooms were buzzing with enthusiasm as students discovered that mathematics can be both challenging and exciting. The celebration reflected TPIS’s commitment to creating meaningful learning experiences that connect academic concepts with hands-on exploration.
At Templer Park International School Rawang, events like these show that learning mathematics goes beyond textbooks — it becomes an adventure of curiosity, discovery, and creativity.
Happy Pi Day from all of us at TPIS! π
