Yesterday, the Student Affairs Department of Templer Park International School (TPIS) successfully conducted an engaging and insightful session for Grade 1 students under the theme “Smart Tech, Smart Me!” which, focused on developing healthy technology habits and promoting a balanced lifestyle between screen time and outdoor activities.

Designed to be both fun and educational, the 1-hour session helped young learners understand the difference between healthy and unhealthy screen use while encouraging them to explore non-digital alternatives through storytelling, games, and creative expression.

Programme Highlights – At a Glance

  • Icebreaker Activity: Students acted out common tech-related behaviours (scrolling, gaming, texting) and reflected on their daily screen habits through discussion and visual cues.
  • Storytelling & Drawing: A short story about a tablet “falling asleep” inspired students to explore fun, non-screen activities. They expressed their ideas through drawings or simple writing.
  • Reflection & Promises: Each student made a personal tech-related promise on a decorated sticky note and displayed it on a class board as a commitment to healthier screen habits.

A Memorable Learning Experience

The Grade 1 learners at TPIS left the session with big smiles and a new understanding of how to use technology wisely and enjoy a healthy mix of study, rest, and play.

This meaningful initiative by the Student Affairs Department reflects TPIS’s ongoing commitment to holistic student development, ensuring our young learners grow into balanced and responsible digital citizens.
