At Templer Park International School Rawang (TPIS), we believe that every student should feel welcomed, supported, and connected from the very first day they step into our school community. To help make this possible, TPIS has introduced the Buddy System—a simple yet powerful initiative that nurtures friendship, responsibility, and belonging.
What Is the Buddy System?
The Buddy System pairs students together, usually matching a new or younger student with an older or more experienced peer. This partnership helps the new student settle in, understand school routines, and build confidence, while also giving the older student an opportunity to develop leadership, empathy, and responsibility.
Why It Matters
• Smooth Transition – Starting school or joining a new environment can feel overwhelming. Having a buddy provides reassurance and guidance.
• Building Confidence – Younger students learn from their buddies, while older students grow more confident as role models.
• Encouraging Friendship – The system fosters friendships across grades, creating a stronger sense of community.
• Promoting Responsibility – Older buddies learn to be patient, caring, and dependable, skills that will benefit them in and out of school.
Buddy Activities at TPIS
At TPIS, the Buddy System goes beyond just introductions. Students participate in activities such as:
• Reading or storytelling together
• Collaborative projects and games
• Helping during transitions between classes or activities
• Sharing experiences during school events and assemblies
These shared moments strengthen the bond between buddies, making the school a friendlier, more supportive place for everyone.
