The Grade 8 Islamic Studies students at Templer Park International School Rawang (TPIS) recently brought history, creativity, and faith together through an exciting hands-on project: “How to Make a Kaaba Model.” This activity turned the classroom into a lively workshop filled with teamwork, imagination, and meaningful learning.

The project had one main goal—to help students deepen their understanding of the Kaaba, the most sacred site in Islam. But instead of learning from textbooks alone, students got to build their knowledge—literally! As they worked on their own miniature Kaaba models, they discovered the religious, cultural, and historical importance of this holy structure.

The activity encouraged students to explore why the Kaaba holds such a central place in Islam. They learned that Muslims around the world, no matter where they live, face the Kaaba during their daily prayers, symbolizing unity and devotion. Through this project, students became familiar with key features of the Kaaba, including the Kiswah (the black cloth draped over it), the door, and the Black Stone located at one of its corners.

As the models took shape, the classroom buzzed with excitement. Some students carefully crafted the golden embroidery of the Kiswah, while others focused on making the structure strong and precise. By the end of the session, each group proudly displayed their finished Kaaba models—each one unique yet all reflecting the same sense of respect and understanding.

This creative project not only strengthened the students’ knowledge of Islamic history but also allowed them to work collaboratively, express their creativity, and appreciate the significance of one of Islam’s most sacred symbols.

At TPIS, learning is always an adventure—and the Grade 8 students proved that understanding faith can be both meaningful and fun when you build it with your own hands!
