Heating Up Science at TPIS!

Our Grade 8 students at Templer Park International School, Rawang (TPIS) recently brought science to life through an exciting hands-on exothermic reaction experiment! As part of their Chemistry lesson, students explored what happens when copper(II) sulphate reacts in an experiment involving methanol, carefully observing how heat energy is released during the reaction. The highlight of the experiment was seeing a visible flame produced from the combustion of methanol—a thrilling moment that made learning both exciting and unforgettable! Through this hands-on learning experience, students stepped into the role of young scientists as they:

✨ Recorded the initial temperature before the reaction
✨ Observed the reaction carefully and noted the changes
✨ Recorded the final temperature after the reaction
✨ Compared both readings to identify the temperature increase

The rise in temperature showed clear evidence that the reaction was exothermic, meaning that heat energy was released into the surroundings. This experiment also reflects STEAM education in action, combining Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics as students applied critical thinking, observation skills, and data analysis to understand scientific concepts in a meaningful way. At TPIS, we believe the best learning happens through exploration, discovery, and hands-on experiences that spark curiosity and inspire future innovators. 🚀🔬
