Learning came to life in our classroom as our students stepped into the shoes of young doctors for an exciting role-play activity on mass! Blending imagination with real-world application, students from Grade 3 explored the concepts of kilograms (kg) and grams (g) in a way that was both meaningful and memorable.

Dressed as doctors, our students “welcomed” their patients and began by measuring their mass using kilograms—just like in real clinics where body weight is recorded to understand a patient’s condition. Through this hands-on experience, they quickly grasped that kilograms are used for measuring heavier objects, such as people.

The fun didn’t stop there! Each “patient” described their symptoms, and our student-doctors had to think carefully before prescribing medicine. Here’s where grams came in—students learned that medicine is measured in much smaller units, helping them visualise how grams are used for lighter items like pills and powders.

This creative role-play helped students:

  • Understand the difference between kg and g through real-life context
  • Apply mathematical concepts in a practical and engaging way
  • Build confidence in communication and problem-solving
  • See how maths connects to everyday life and future careers

Filled with laughter, curiosity, and plenty of “doctor talk,” this activity showed just how powerful learning can be when it’s interactive and fun.

At Templer Park International School, Rawang (TPIS), we believe that learning goes beyond textbooks. By creating opportunities for students to experience concepts in action, we nurture deeper understanding—and a love for learning that lasts a lifetime. 🌟🩺⚖️
