Our Templer Park International School Rawang (TPIS) kindergarten students recently enjoyed an exciting and educational session all about the importance of keeping their teeth clean and healthy. A bright smile begins with good habits, and our young learners were eager to discover how they can care for their teeth every day.
During the activity, the students were introduced to the correct teeth brushing technique in a fun and engaging way. They learned that brushing should be done at least twice a day using a soft toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. With gentle circular motions, they practiced brushing the front, back, and chewing surfaces of their teeth. They also discovered that brushing gently helps protect their gums while keeping their teeth clean and strong. Most importantly, they learned that brushing should last for two full minutes for the best results.
Our kindergarten students also explored foods that are good for healthy teeth. They learned that fruits and vegetables such as apples, carrots, and cucumbers help keep teeth clean while providing important nutrients. Milk, cheese, and yogurt were introduced as excellent sources of calcium, which helps strengthen teeth and bones. Drinking water was also highlighted as the best choice to help wash away food particles and keep the mouth fresh.

The students then discussed foods and drinks that can be harmful to teeth when consumed too often. Sugary snacks such as candies, chocolates, and cakes may cause cavities, while fizzy drinks and sweet juices can weaken tooth enamel. Sticky treats that remain on the teeth were also identified as foods that require extra care and brushing afterward.
Through this meaningful hands-on learning experience, our TPIS kindergarten students gained valuable knowledge about healthy dental habits and smart food choices. We are proud to see our young learners building routines that will help them maintain bright, healthy smiles for many years to come. At TPIS, we believe healthy smiles lead to happy learners!
