In the Templer Park International School Rawang (TPIS) Lab, our Grade 11 students turned detectives — food detectives! 🥔🔍 They explored how to test for starch in everyday foods using a simple yet fascinating chemical reaction.

The secret ingredient? Iodine solution. When iodine meets starch, something magical happens — the color changes from a yellowish-brown to a deep blue-black! 💙⚫ This color change is the telltale sign that starch is present.

From testing rice and potatoes to bread and bananas, students got hands-on experience understanding how complex carbohydrates work in our diets. Beyond the color change, they also learned why starch matters — it’s our body’s main source of energy! ⚡

Science isn’t just about memorizing — it’s about seeing reactions come to life. At TPIS, learning happens with curiosity, color, and a little bit of lab magic. ✨
