Science came to life in the Grade 8 lab this week as our young scientists at Templer Park International School Rawang (TPIS) carried out a colorful experiment to test the solubility of different solvents โ and the results were simply brilliant!
Armed with food colouring, clear cups, and various liquids, students investigated how different solvents affect how quickly and completely a substance dissolves. Water, oil, and vinegar were just some of the solvents put to the test.

With careful observation, students noticed how food colouring spread and mixed beautifully in water, proving its high solubility. Meanwhile, drops of colour floated stubbornly on oil, sparking curious discussions on polar and non-polar substances. Vinegar created another exciting reaction, showing different dissolving patterns that kept everyone intrigued.
The classroom quickly transformed into a mini science fair โ colourful swirls, bubbling curiosity, and lively teamwork filled the air. Through this hands-on activity, students not only learned scientific concepts but also practiced critical thinking, observation, and collaboration.
At TPIS, we believe that science is best learned through real experiments and joyful discovery, and this solubility test was the perfect example of learning made fun. ๐
