At Templer Park International School Rawang (TPIS), our IGCSE Grade 10 Biology students turned their Friday lesson into a vibrant scientific adventure as they continued their practical investigation on biological molecules โ specifically testing foods for carbohydrates and proteins!
With test tubes in hand and curiosity in full force, students experimented with everyday foods like chips, wafers, rice, and anchovies. Their mission? To uncover hidden nutrients using classic food tests that reveal results through exciting colour changes!
๐ Iodine Test โ The Starch Detective
Students carefully added iodine to each sample:
- Brown โ blue-black = starch present
- Brown stays brown = no starch detected
๐ฌ Biuret Test โ The Protein Hunter
Next, they tested for proteins using Biuret reagent:
- Blue โ purple = protein present
- Blue stays blue = no protein
The lab quickly transformed into a rainbow of blues, purples, and browns โ proof that science can be colourful, dynamic, and tons of fun!
Throughout the experiment, our TPIS IGCSE students demonstrated excellent lab skills, strong teamwork, and sharp scientific observation, making the session not only productive but highly enjoyable.
Another bright and brilliant Friday in the TPIS Biology lab! ๐๐งฌโจ
