Hands-on Science in Action at Templer Park International School Rawang (TPIS)
At TPIS, we believe learning should be as exciting as it is educational—and our Grade 4 students recently proved just that with their hands-on exploration of the Muscles and Skeleton topic from the Cambridge Science curriculum!
As part of our commitment to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) education, the students didn’t just learn about the human body—they experienced it through fun, interactive, and engaging activities that brought science to life.
🧠 From Bones to Biceps—It’s All About Movement!
During the unit, students explored how our skeleton provides structure and how muscles help us move. But they didn’t stop at textbooks—they got creative and active!
Here’s what they got up to:
- 🦴 Built working models of joints using straws, rubber bands, and cardboard to see how bones and muscles work together.
- 💪 Created “muscle machines” to show how muscles pull on bones to make movement happen.
- 🤖 Used arts and crafts to replicate body systems and demonstrate flexion, extension, and how muscles contract and relax.
- 🎯 Tested their own reflexes and body movement to understand the connection between muscles, bones, and the nervous system.
🧪 STEAM-Powered Learning
At TPIS, we place a strong emphasis on STEAM because we believe it empowers our students to be curious, think critically, and solve problems creatively. This project encouraged students to think like young scientists, engineers, and even artists—combining biology, design, and creativity in one awesome unit.
📚 More Than Just a Lesson
This activity was more than just a science lesson—it was an opportunity for students to explore how their own bodies work in a meaningful and memorable way. By building, experimenting, and reflecting, they developed a deeper appreciation for the marvels of the human body and the power of hands-on learning.

We’re proud of our Grade 4 learners for their enthusiasm, teamwork, and curiosity. The future looks bright—and full of movement—here at Templer Park International School Rawang!
