🌍TPIS Empowers Refugee Leaders

Date: July 5, 2025
Location: Templer Park International School, Malaysia

At Templer Park International School (TPIS), we believe that education is not only for students—it’s for communities. As part of our ongoing CSR mission to uplift and empower, TPIS proudly hosted a full-day training workshop for refugee-led organizations (RLOs) across Malaysia.

The workshop, titled “Managing Refugee-led Organizations”, was developed and conducted by Dr. Mohammad Fadi Qaddo and brought together an incredible group of over 40 participants representing grassroots refugee initiatives from around the country.

🌟 Who Attended?

Attendees came from passionate, hardworking centers such as:

  • Refugee Network centre Malaysia (RNC)
  • Ruth Education Centre
  • Myanmar Workers Organization
  • Central Africa Refugee Community
  • Save School
  • Al-Noor Enrichment School
  • Myanmar Refugee Community Learning Center (MRCLC)
  • Rohingya Youth Support Network (RYSN)
  • Lady Ayaz Sewing Centre
  • Teen Health International / West African Community
  • And many more independent change-makers

đź’ˇ What Was Covered?

The training addressed real challenges faced by RLOs and offered practical solutions. Topics included:

  • Legal Awareness: Understanding the risks of unregistered operations and exploring safe pathways for legitimacy

  • Sustainable Funding: From small community donations to large-scale grants and social enterprises

  • Pitching & Storytelling: Teaching attendees how to craft powerful pitches to donors and supporters

  • Digital Tools: Practical sessions on using Google Forms, Canva, and other free platforms

  • Community Innovation: Developing high-impact, low-cost local initiatives to make an immediate difference

Participants were actively engaged in role-play, brainstorming activities, and group presentations. By the end of the day, each attendee walked away with a personal action plan, a network of supportive peers, and a fresh perspective on what’s possible.
