Templer Park International School is proud to host the JOTA-JOTI 2023: Fostering Global Citizenship, Technology Skills, and Scouting Values

Introduction:

This globally celebrated event JOTA-JOTI 2023, is organized by the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), brings together Scouts and Guides from all corners of the world to engage in communication and technology activities.

What is JOTA-JOTI?

JOTA-JOTI (Jamboree-on-the-Air-Jamboree-on-the-Internet) is the world’s largest digital Scout event taking place on the Internet and over the airwaves. Held every year in October, the event connects millions of young people around the world for a full weekend of online activities that promote friendship and global citizenship. JOTA-JOTI enables young people and volunteers to participate in fun and engaging group activities over the Internet and amateur radio focused on developing 21st-century skills through Scouting.

The Essence of JOTA-JOTI:

In 2023, JOTA-JOTI takes place from 20 to 22 October. The dynamic program comprises a variety of non-formal education activities, including webinars, global campfires, talent shows, live shows, fun challenges, and more through an interactive 3D campsite. JOTA-JOTI aims to support young people of all ages to learn about communications technology, the values of global citizenship, and their role in creating a better world.

The Six Activity Stations:

At Templer Park International School, JOTA-JOTI 2023 promises an enriching experience with six activity stations:

a. Phonetic Code: Scouts and Guides will delve into the world of communication using phonetic codes, sharpening their ability to transmit messages clearly and efficiently.

b. Morse Code: This age-old method of communication teaches Scouts the art of transmitting messages via a series of dots and dashes, building an appreciation for historical technology.

c. Semaphore Flag Signal: Scouts will learn to convey messages using flags, an important skill that hones teamwork and understanding among participants.

d. Safe From Harm: JOTA-JOTI emphasizes safety. This station equips participants with vital knowledge to ensure the well-being and security of Scouts online and in real life.

e. Scoutlink Communication: This station explores the world of online communication through Scoutlink, fostering global connections and digital citizenship.

f. Mini Campfire – Songs and Singing: What’s a Scout gathering without songs and camaraderie? Participants will come together for a virtual campfire, sharing songs and stories that strengthen the bond of friendship.
